SINOPSE:
Uma cineasta descobre um tesouro e faz um filme com as fotografias tiradas pelo seu tio-avô Yoshitomi, documentando a sua vida de 1933 a 1945, começando como um jovem soldado no Japão, passando pela sua migração para o Peru e o seu tempo como prisioneiro em Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela, durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Através destas imagens, surge a figura do Dragão, uma quimera que, como todos os migrantes, se adapta e transforma de acordo com os territórios que conquista, fundindo memória, mito e realidade.
SYNOPSIS:
A filmmaker discovers a treasure and makes a film with the photographs her great-uncle Yoshitomi took, documenting his life from 1933 to 1945, beginning as a young soldier in Japan, through his migration to Peru and his time as a prisoner in Ocumare del Tuy, Venezuela, during World War II. Through these images, the figure of the Dragon emerges, a chimera that, like all migrants, adapts and transforms according to the territories it conquers, merging memory, myth, and reality.

Kaori Flores Yonekura é uma cineasta venezuelana-japonesa e ex-aluna da prestigiada EICTV (Cuba), com mais de 20 filmes no currículo. A sua aclamada estreia no documentário, Nikkei (2013), filmado na Venezuela, Peru e Japão, alcançou reconhecimento internacional, sendo exibido em mais de 30 festivais e exposições. O seu segundo documentário, «A Extraordinária Viagem do Dragão», é candidato ao Prémio Goya 2026 de Melhor Filme Ibero-Americano.

Kaori Flores Yonekura is a Venezuelan-Japanese filmmaker and alumna of the prestigious EICTV (Cuba), with over 20 film credits. Her acclaimed documentary debut, Nikkei (2013), filmed in Venezuela, Peru, and Japan, achieved international recognition, screening at more than 30 festivals and exhibitions. Her second documentary, "The Extraordinary Journey of the Dragon," is a candidate for the 2026 Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film.
