SINOPSE:
Durante a pandemia, Marcelo Gomes percebeu que havia parado de sonhar. Ele e o renomado neurocientista brasileiro Sidarta Ribeiro embarcam em uma jornada cinematográfica pelas paisagens antropológicas e científicas do sonho. Baseando-se no conceito psicológico de "Criaturas da Mente", o filme explora como diferentes sociedades compreenderam o inconsciente e o folclore. Encontros com uma médium em Pernambuco, Brasil, e com o pensador indígena Ailton Krenak aprofundam a exploração.
SYNOPSIS:
During the pandemic, Marcelo Gomes realized he had stopped dreaming. He and renowned Brazilian neuroscientist Sidarta Ribeiro embark on a cinematic journey through the anthropological and scientific landscapes of dreaming. Drawing on the psychological concept of ‘Creatures of the Mind’, the film explores how different societies have understood the unconscious and folklore. Encounters with a medium in Pernambuco, Brazil, and the Indigenous thinker Ailton Krenak deepen the exploration.

Marcelo Gomes é um cineasta de ficção e documentário de Recife, Brasil. Seu primeiro longa-metragem, Cinema, Aspirinas e Abutres, foi premiado na mostra Un Certain Regard do Festival de Cannes. Viajo Porque Tenho Que Viajar estreou em Veneza. Seu filme mais recente, Retrato de um Certo Oriente, estreou no Festival Internacional de Cinema de Roterdã. Seu documentário anterior, Esperando o Carnaval, estreou na Berlinale.

I Travel Because I Have To premiered in Venice. His latest film Portrait of a Certain Orient premiered at Rotterdam IFF. His previous documentary Waiting for the Carnival premiered at Berlinale.
