DOC.Coimbra - International Documentary Film Festival registers a significant increase in submissions

The 2026 edition of DOC.Coimbra - International Documentary Film Festival received a total of 727 submissions. This year's submissions include 370 short films and 357 feature films, representing a diversity of themes and cinematic styles from filmmakers around the world.
The countries with the most submissions are:
Brazil (113 films), Spain (82 films), Portugal (72 films), Italy (44 films), France (28 films), Germany (19 films).
The festival will take place from March 17th to 22nd, 2026 at the Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, the IPDJ Auditorium, and the CAPC Sereia in Coimbra. The program will include competitive sections for short and feature films, a retrospective section, and a section for schools. The full festival program will be announced on February 9, 2026. Tickets will be free.
